Science and religion in an age of fake news with The Revd Dr Gillian Straine

Gillian is trained to doctorate level in science and holds a master's degree in theology from the University of Oxford. She is the Director of the Guild of Health and St Raphael a Christian ecumenical charity working in the healing ministry of the Church. An ordained priest in the Church of England, Gillian is committed to helping people engage with the faith and science, striving to make the church relevant and challenging to the society in which it seeks to present the healing message of Jesus Christ. 

Gillian writes and speaks widely in the areas of both science and religion, and healing (sometimes all three). Her first book is 'Introducing Science and Religion: A path through polemic', 2014, SPCK. Her more personal book about Cancer, science and healing and faith was published in January 2017. Her area of academic interest is the interface between science, theology and healing, exploring where science can expand theological knowledge and aid pastoral ministry. She is a trustee of the Christian Evidence Society (christianevidencesociety.org.uk), and publicity office for The Science and Religion Forum (srforum.org). She is an invited participant at Wilron Park conferences, and an invited speaker to the Farady Institute, University of Cambridge. Her Phd was taken at Imperial College London where she worked in experimental physics.
