Comets: visitors from the edge of the Solar System

Dr Carolin Crawford is the Public Astronomer at the Institute of Astronomy at Cambridge University, and she is also a Fellow of Emmanuel College. She is an observational astronomer with a special interest in the largest galaxies in the Universe - those at the centre of clusters of galaxies, which also host the most massive black holes. Her research was carried out alongside – and later eclipsed by – a growing role in the public communication of science. Carolin was appointed as the Professor of Astronomy at Gresham College 2011 - 2015, and she can often be found discussing astronomical matters with a variety of audiences, including on both national and local radio.
