A Musical Offering | 5000 years

This event takes place 09/07/20167:30pm

We are pleased to announce Wild Street Ensemble will be opening our week long Summer Music Festival celebrating 175 years of St Margaret's Church.

Join us for an evening celebrating 175 years of St Margaret's Church and 5000 years of language, song and music. Wild Street Ensemble premier Will Frampton's Babylonian Songs with soloist Rachel Duckett. The song cycle sets ancient Babylonian texts on the subject of creation and cosmology, normalised by Dr Martin Worthington. Programme also includes: selections from Bach’s The Musical Offering arranged for the ensemble; Martinu’s Trio for flute, piano and cello, and a few "surprise" pieces to be discovered on the night.

We look forward to seeing you for an evening of musical discovery and celebration!

Wild Street Ensemble is a London based ensemble formed by graduates of Goldsmiths, University of London, Royal Academy of Music which has since expanded to incorporate freelance professionals. Ensemble members are Rachel Duckett (soprano); Tom Sargeaunt (flute); Benjamin Marrington-Reeves (alto sax); Tze-Tien Huang (piano); Carmen Thomson (cello); Will Frampton (composer/conductor).  The ensemble embraces a wide range of musical styles and cultures as well as commissioning new works for contemporary composers.
